Data methodology and status criteria
Belight Logistics is a planning aid for carrier discovery and freight market context. This page explains where the displayed information comes from, how terminal classifications are calculated, and what users must verify independently.

Carrier Finder methodology
The Carrier Finder searches public US Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration registration records near the origin entered by the user. Results may include registration identity, authority indicators, equipment counts, cargo categories, and approximate distance to the search origin.
Required verification: A search result does not guarantee active authority, insurance coverage, ocean container capability, equipment availability, service area, pricing, or acceptance of a shipment. Confirm every requirement directly with the carrier before transportation.
Terminal Status methodology
Terminal Status uses a local dataset maintained by Belight. Dwell time and gate turn values are entered manually using publicly available operational information. Belight then calculates the display color from the numeric value; colors are never supplied by an ocean carrier or terminal.
Dwell time classification
| Numeric range | Belight status |
|---|---|
| 0 to less than 3 days | Green |
| 3 to less than 5 days | Orange |
| 5 days or more | Red |
Gate turn classification
| Numeric range | Belight status |
|---|---|
| 0 to less than 90 minutes | Green |
| 90 to less than 180 minutes | Orange |
| 180 minutes or more | Red |
Missing, negative, non-numeric, or otherwise invalid measurements are displayed as N/A and receive no status color. Inactive terminals are excluded from the interface.
SCFI market context
The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index panel presents recent observations as general ocean freight market context. An index movement is not a carrier quote and does not predict a specific lane rate. Users should obtain current commercial quotations before making a booking decision.
Update and correction policy
Terminal values are updated manually and show their available update date. Public registration data and market observations can change after retrieval. Belight aims to present the data accurately but users should rely on the relevant official source and direct provider confirmation for time-sensitive decisions.
What Belight Terminal Status is not
It is not an official terminal status, port authority announcement, or ocean carrier advisory. Green, orange, and red are Belight classifications intended to make the two numeric measurements easier to interpret consistently.
